چکیده
Abstract Introduction Goals of post-stroke rehabilitation include recovery physical function which, in turn, relies on motor learning to relearn functional skills. Given the known association between and sleep, it is important understand if sleep related characteristics persons with stroke (PwS) during subacute timeframe (60–90 days following stroke) potentially guide interventions. Obesity a risk-factor for therefore prevalent among PwS. The purpose this study was determine there are differences changes objectively measured parameters across 60-90 day period that correspond different levels body mass index (BMI). Methods PwS received standard care rehabilitation, wore wrist actigraphy 3-9nights at 60 90 post-stroke, no additional Total time (TST), bed (TIB), efficiency (SE), latency (SL), wake after onset (WASO), number awakenings (NWAK) average per awakening (TPA) were obtained from software each night, nightly values determined. Participants categorized into two groups based BMI (< 30 >=30). Changes calculated as 90-day minus 60-day values. Independent samples t-tests performed groups. Results sample (n=31, 52% female, age 66.7years, range 44–85+) included n=13 >=30. found significant difference change SE (6.9%, p=0.016) NWAK (6.3, p=0.003) For those BMI>=30 worsened 60-90-days (-4.2% 2counts), whereas BMI< improved (+2.7% -4.3counts). No TST, TIB, SL, WASO or TPA. Conclusion Without sleep-related interventions, worsen who obese phase, but improves not obese. There may be opportunities explore interventions Support (if any) This supported by NINR Award Number R01 NR018979.

Eye movements enhance memory for individuals who are strongly right-handed and harm it for individuals who are not.
Subjects who make repetitive saccadic eye movements before a memory test subsequently exhibit superior retrieval in comparison with subjects who do not move their eyes. It has been proposed that eye movements enhance retrieval by increasing interaction of the left and right cerebral hemispheres. To test this, we compared the effect of eye movements on subsequent recall (Experiment 1) and recogn...
